How To: drain fluid from under a toenail

How To

How To project

Warning, maybe this should have the alternate title of How To: gross people out, because that seems to be the effect this has.  Anyways, the assignment was to create a step-by-step on how to do something medical related.  Having had bad luck with bruising my toenails (in part due to fencing, in part due to klutziness), I’ve had some first hand experience with this procedure.  Of course, you should probably see your doctor first before trying this on your own, but sometimes that’s not an option.  The key here is to make sure you sterilize the paperclip, don’t burn yourself while heating it up, and just take things slowly.  Afterward treat it like any other open wound by keeping it clean and dry and it really will keep your toenail from falling off for a good several months.  Also I’ve included my initial sketch for the project just to give you an idea of what I start from.
